“THE ONE ABOUT NATALIE”

DETROIT BASED PHOTOGRAPHER & VIDEOGRAPHER

HOME

EPISODE 001

The home I grew up in has always been decorated in photographs and home videos fill old DVD cases that we pull out on special occasions or on the days we just feel like reminiscing. Those home videos feature my face smooshed up against our family’s 90’s camcorder asking, “can I have a turn?” I wanted to capture the simple moments that made my childhood house a home. Christmas mornings, asking my parents to kiss for the camera while my dad opened up his Father's Day gifts and my little brother learning to crawl in the kitchen; my parents cheering him on in the background. Looking back now, I am certain that documenting joyful memories has always been meant for me.

EPISODE 002

When I don't have my camera in hand, you’ll find me at local coffee shops, bookstores, on weekend getaways with loved ones and binging on self care. I love hosting girls nights, reading fantasy books while enjoying my morning coffee and constantly romanticizing New York City. At 30 years old I find that my coffee requires less cream, thrifting 90's home decor brings me so much joy and I will always stand behind this: Ross and Rachel were NOT on a break.

EPISODE 003

The inspiration behind my work comes from a perfectly brewed combination of fictional 90’s relationships; Jack & Rose, Harry & Sally, Ross & Rachel and a deep love for old home movies filled with unfiltered moments and real feelings.

PRIZED
POSSESION

EPISODE 005

My most prized possession is not that of a material item, but a home video of my Grandma Diane, who has since passed. She is dancing with me in the dining room, unaware that my papa has the video camera. She doesn’t feel so far away every time I watch it and while melancholy, I am so blessed to have this piece of her. Time & time again I am reminded as to why capturing my own special moments has had a tremendous impact on my life and I am ever so certain that I want to spend my life giving that gift to others.

LOVE STORIES

MY FAVORITE

HOVER TO VIEW THE DEETS

This is my Mom and Dad! They were high school sweethearts and when my dad joined the military, he proposed to my mom over the phone (she hung up because she was so shocked lol) and called him back to say “YES!!” They were legally married in September so she could live on base with him and they were married in the church that November - one month later they left for Sicily where my dad worked on base and my mom worked as a barista in an Italian coffee shop. Talk about movie magic. They lived in Italy for their first year of marriage and have been home in Michigan ever since!

MOM & DAD

This my Grandma and Papa! Paul and Diane were married in 1965 at age 17 and 20 after my grandma found out she was pregnant. My grandparents were completely enamored with each other from that moment on - I have truly never witnessed a love quite like theirs. When my grandma passed away at 59 from a rare cancer, it was incredibly hard on my entire family. Her legacy lives on through our photographs and videos and the stories my papa shares along side of those documents. It’s these pieces of her that make her loss a little lighter.

GRANDMA & PAPA

This is me and my fiancé, Tyler. I may be biased, but it’s my favorite story of all. We fell in love as teenagers, but through our college years we explored life independently, moved far away from home and eventually in our early twenties, found our way back to each other. On a whim, Tyler moved out to California where I had been living for two years; together we followed our dreams and fell in love as adults. Now, we live back home in Michigan and adore the life we are building together.
